PERSONALITY:
It takes a full two minutes for the average person to realize that Riley has attention deficit disorder, and that he doesn’t often take his medication for it. He is constantly fidgeting and getting up off of his seat. Riley can’t sit still for long periods of time at all, which plays a big part on stage. He runs around and goes nuts in stage like a kid on crack. Riley has a hard time follow instructions, often getting distracted several times before remembering what he was supposed to be doing. He is constantly shifting from one incomplete task to another and interrupting himself and others by shifting his attention.
Riley is quite talkative and out going. He is a ball of never ending energy, even when he is in a sour, sick or upset mood. He is always moving and always talking, even in his sleep. It is very hard for Riley to keep his attention focused on one thing at a time so he is often doing several things at once. His attention is always averted when talking to him. He may be listening but he is staring off at some shiny thing off in another direction. The smallest sound or movement will distract him and his naturally curious mind must find out what it is that is averting his attention. He gets bored very easily.
Riley will go out of his way to avoid any sort of mental effort. He just barely made it through high school and has no plans on going to college or university. He had just scraped by passing marks in high school because of his short attention span and dislike for medication. Now that he is out of school he plans on staying out and making it as a musician instead. He isn’t doing too bad, in his opinion. He has a band, he has a fiancé, he just needs a record deal.
He is a big child at heart. Playful and fun loving, Riley is the guy you go to when you need to let loose. He is impulsive and never thinks before he acts, constantly putting himself in danger. He also doesn’t think before he speaks but that’s pretty obvious by now. Riley has no sense of safety and will jump off of a two story roof onto a mattress because he can. He likes to test his limits and he wants to do everything he can before he dies. Stopping Riley once he has one of these stupid and dangerous ideas is damn near impossible.

HISTORY:
When Riley Nickolas Slaughter was born his mother, Sicily, decided he would be the end of her children. With four boys already and now a fifth she had no plans on having any more than that. Anthony, being the obedient husband he was, just agreed with her. They had enough trouble supporting three boys, let alone five. Both on low income jobs and desperately searching for second ones they didn’t have much to raise their sons on. They had a small house with the oldest two in one bedroom and the younger three in another. It was always a mess and Sicily and Anthony almost always had eviction threat notices on the door.
That was the way things were for years with their family. They just barely scraped by with their bills, often relying on family loans. Birthdays and Christmas were barely recognized and celebrated. They made each other cards and got little trinkets and that was about it. The boys learned to make their own fun, which was no problem with Riley’s evident ADD. Even as a little, little kid he had a hard time sitting still and paying attention. His wild and energetic behavior made for plenty of fun with his older brothers.
As the years went on not much changed with the Slaughter family. Sicily and Anthony worked two jobs to keep a roof over their sons’ head and the oldest two boys, Max and Jeffry, worked part time on top of going to high school. Their pay went toward the bills by their own will, forcing them to grow up much faster than they had to. Even Devin, who was barely able to work, did a paper route to help out with the money. Sicily and Anthony hated having to rely on their kids for financial support but they knew it was needed for them to keep living in the house that they had.
When Riley was reaching the double digits of his age he started spending a lot of time at the arcade watching the other kids play. He didn’t do much playing himself, no money for it, but loved watching. The bright lights and copious amounts of sounds made it a very stimulating place for him to be. He could pay attention to everything at once and not get in trouble for it. That’s where he met Sage, a girl two years younger than him. She let him play a few multi player games with her and won him a little plastic ring. She gave it to him and he wore it for the day before putting it away in a safe place.
That one day spent in the arcade sparked a very close friendship between Riley and Sage. After that the two became very close and were best friends within a week. They were inseparable despite their age and social status. While Riley’s family was on the bottom of the social ladder Sage was at the top. He was poor and she was rich, but at that age you didn’t really care. They went to separate schools until high school and constantly played together after school was finished, but come high school that changed. Right before high school, for her, he asked her to go out with him. He was fifteen and she was thirteen.
Around the same time Riley found this magical thing called music class. He absolutely loved it, it was the only class he paid full attention to. His best and favorite class, it was no surprise he was constantly taking home the schools guitar to practice. He was constantly attached to the guitar, learning all that he could. He also started playing piano in school and was singing in choir. All while dating Sage, whose family hated him. His incredibly short attention span and low class upbringing didn’t sit well with them, but he didn’t notice or care.
They finally got to go to school together when she entered high school. He was thrilled and showed her off to all of his friends, who supported Riley and his girlfriend. His family, however, thought she was pompous and stuck up because of her wealthy up bringing. They supported his relationship but hated it. They didn’t want their innocent and naïve son to be with a stuck up prat. Riley’s relationship with Sage didn’t seem to be ending any time soon though. As the years went on Riley’s love for music grew, as did his talent, and his love and devotion to Sage grew as well. Though once while hanging out with some of his buddies, who later became his band, he made out with a friend because he wanted to know if guys tasted and kissed different from girls.
A few more years passed. Riley brought Sage to his prom, graduated, and started focusing on his band. He knew his family had no money for college and that his marks were too low for a scholarship and didn’t bother to try. He instead tried his best to get small gigs and get their band known. The name of his band? Wonder Chunks. The logo? Wonder Woman throwing up. Yes, both were Riley’s idea. His awesome friends were all for the name and logo for the band and worked their hardest to get known. While they were playing small shows and practicing as much as they could Sage was finishing up high school.
Sage’s family started greatly protesting the relationship between her and Riley during her last year of high school. It got much worse with both sides, actually. Both Riley and Sage’s parents wanted the two to break up for very stupid reasons. He was using her for her money and she was with him out of pity. This only made Riley want Sage even more though. On her prom night, her night, he proposed to her in front of all of her friends. He got down on one knee, told her he would always love her, and opened up a fancy velvet box with that plastic ring from when they first met in it. Her reaction… “Is that plastic?”. Not the reaction he was looking for but she said yes after he promised to get her a real ring. He didn’t have the money to even enter the store let alone buy a real diamond ring.
Sage graduated from high school and announced that she would be going to university in Hawaii, followed by her engagement with Riley. How far away she would be for school, matched with her being engaged to a “buffoon” on top of her not having a proper ring did not sit well with them. When Riley announced him and his band would be going to Hawaii and that he was engaged with Sage it didn’t go so well with his parents either. Neither of them cared and left for Hawaii despite their protests. She paid for his expenses there and has been spoiling him rotten ever since they moved.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
He felt like a junky off of his fix right now. No Internet, no computer. His entire sense of being was ripped away all because of that jackass. If he had Internet he wouldn’t mind probably wouldn’t mind staying here, he’d lived in worse conditions before. He wanted a goddamn computer. Thinking about how badly he wanted to get online was making his eye twitch. His fingers were also eagerly drumming the sides of his legs like he was typing. He let out an irritated sigh and rolled out of bed, not bothering to make it and leaving the blankets tossed aside. Yawning loudly he scratched his head, running his fingers through his tangled hair and padding over to get some clean clothes. A pair of old, tattered jeans and a black tee shirt later he was grabbing his thick, black glasses and hearing aids and leaving the bedroom.
His batteries were dead so Sebastian was stuck in complete silence; not like it bothered him, he was used to it by now. He had learned to cope with being deaf at an early age. Besides, it wasn’t like he had gone deaf, he was born like that. He didn’t know what it was like to hear, even with the hearing aids. They didn’t really do much for him in his opinion. He could still barely hear anything with them in, just loud noises. What was the point in having them if they did barely nothing? Either way he needed to find some batteries, which was a bit of a pain in the ass.
His hands were in his pockets as he walked, smoky blue eyes staring straight ahead and a cold and uninterested look on his face. He hadn’t bothered to comb through his hair so it was a matted mess framing his face. Strands fell in his eyes but he didn’t bother to remove them, knowing they would just fall back later. He was too busy thinking, calculating and analyzing to care about what his hair was doing. The study seemed like a promising place to find batteries. It was filled with electronics, just not ones with Internet. He really needed to stop thinking about the Internet and find a distraction. There was a library but he hated reading, animal pens but he didn’t like going outside, a music room but he was deaf. All he really had to do was watch television but he didn’t like that either. The pool, that was about all he had to do here.
He opened the door sluggishly and let it hit the wall as he entered the Study, feeling the noise rather than hearing it. His eyes surveyed the room, falling on each object but skipping past the books. He immediately started looking for a gadget that might require the same size of battery that he needed. He waked over and picked one up, not caring to look at what it was exactly, and started working at taking it apart for his own gain. Sitting on the floor with his legs crossed and back to the door Seb was in his own silent world of personal gain.
