PERSONALITY:
Overall, Kelle is a pretty happy-go-lucky sort of guy. He likes to laugh and have a good time, not seeing the point in dwelling too much on what has been or what can’t be changed. He is pretty open, though of course like everyone he has his secrets, the biggest being that he has cancer. Kelle likes to keep that on the down-low because any time he tells someone he has it they seem to treat him differently, like he is fragile and can’t manage to look after himself. He is very independent and would hate for people to think of him as needy or fragile and therefore he pretty much keeps that to himself or a few close friends.
Kelle likes to take life for what it is and tries not to miss out on the moments or opportunities thrown his way. If there is a party, he is sure to be in attendance, and girls have always been a keen interest of his. He’s a pretty big flirt and is not opposed to one-night stands or friends with benefits, though he is reluctant to take on a real relationship due to the cancer.
Right now he is simply trying to enjoy the college experience for what it is worth and get some sort of experience under his belt just to say that he can and did it. Despite the cancer he is a friendly, warm individual who likes to have a good time and makes the most out of what is given to him.
PLACE OF BIRTH: Boston, Massachusetts DATE OF BIRTH: August 13 FINANCIAL STATUS: Upper-middle class FATHER: Mike Paxton MOTHER: Julie Paxton SIBLINGS: None
HISTORY:
Kelle is the only child of Mike and Julie Paxton. When she was thirteen, Julie and her parents and sister moved from Ireland to the United States, settling in Boston and never leaving. When she was nineteen, she met Mike, who was a Boston native and they hit it off right away. They spent their entire college career dating, Julie going for her art degree and Mike for his business degree. When they graduated, they got married and started to make a life for themselves.
Five years after their marriage, Kelle was born. He was born a perfectly healthy baby boy and things looked to be going good for the small family. His mother started work at a high school as an art teacher while his father took over managing hospital business reports, giving them a reasonable income.
Even at a young age Kelle showed a great interest in sports. He started playing tee-ball and little league when he was six and fell in love with baseball, becoming a full-fledged Red Sox fan very early in life. His grandfather gave him a guitar for his tenth birthday, which got him started on playing it and he took a great interest in music from that point forward.
In high school, he was the average teen. He plated on the football team and was the pitcher for their baseball team, and he also dabbled in wrestling for a year or two as well as some snowboarding. Things appeared normal, until shortly after his fifteenth birthday when he started to struggle to breath after sports. Thinking it was nothing more than overwork or sports-induced asthma, he went on inhalers to help, but after a time he found it was not working. Becoming worried, his mother took him to the doctor, where they got the shocking news that he had lung cancer. Thankfully it had not metastasized, though he was started on chemotherapy right away. For the next two years he fought off and on, finally becoming clear of cancer when he was twenty.
At this time, Kelle graduated high school and applied to different colleges, including one in Hawaii. He had done it for kicks, thinking it would be cool to go somewhere outside of Boston, and who did not want to go to a school on the beaches? When he was accepted, he announced that he was going to go to there, and while his parents were apprehensive they allowed it, not able to keep him from doing it with or without their permission. He packed up and moved out, his parents coming with him and helping him settle in before heading back to Boston.
Kelle settled into life in Hawaii fairly easily, busying himself with finding a job at the local music shop and learning to surf. In his sophomore year of college, however, a disturbing recurrence of his past symptoms started to come up, and sure enough when he went to the hospital to get it checked out he was once again given the news that he had cancer. He was started on chemo again, which he hated but knew was his best shot, spending more than six months on it. This did not stop him from trying new things, however, and he refused to let it control his life, as it was already threatening to do. Now in his junior year of college, he is off chemo for the time being and so far the outlook is pretty good, and he intends to live his life to the fullest because of it.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
His voicemail was probably the worst thing he owned. Every day he got a new message from his mother asking how he was doing and reminding him to keep her up to date on everything. She meant well, but he could take care of himself. Mothers never saw it like that though and he knew it, no matter how many times he tried to remind her.
Yawning, he rolled out of bed. One good thing about Hawaii was that he did not have to wear socks to bed for fear of a cold floor when he woke up; winters here were mild, making Boston seem like a hell-hole in comparison. He went into the bathroom, using the toilet and washing his face in the sink. His hair had finally grown back for the second time, though it was shorter than he liked it, but it was hair all the same. Satisfied, he went back into the bedroom and crossed the floor, going down into the kitchen to make some coffee before he went to work.
Upon reaching the kitchen, he was greeted by his two dogs. Both looked up from their spots on the floor, wagging their tails so that they made a slightly flumping noise against the floor. Both were golden retrievers, and the younger of the two--a female named Champagne--got up to lick his hand in greeting. Kelle ruffled her ears affectionately, bending down to pat the older male named Shambala before getting to work on his breakfast. He ate, had his coffee, and then took his dogs for a walk to let them use the bathroom before taking them back inside and feeding them. With chores done, he finished getting ready and then headed out the door, getting into his car and driving down to work.
Just another day in paradise.
