The year is 1997 and a new headmaster has taken the reins at Hogwarts, Severus Tobias Snape. Snape had been teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts for years before hand. His wife, Lily Marie Snape 'nee Evans, has been teaching Potions. Yes, that's right Lily Evans marries Snape instead of James Potter. What happened? After James had promised Lily he would stop torturing Snape in their seventh year. Lily starts to date James and things appear fine. Later that school term (1977) James breaks that promise. It was only made between James and Lily, and James had been provoked by Sirius to do something really wicked to Snivellus. James ultimately breaks his promise with Snape, embarrassing him one evening during the dinner feast. It brought humility to Snape, and even though no one knew just how it happened, Lily knew exactly who was responsible for it. The very next day, she breaks up with Potter for violating his trust and never spoke to him ever again.
Since James and Lily never reconcile.Lily marries Severus a few years after graduation, there is. Lord Voldemort has great power over the wizarding world, and is currently trying to take down the Ministry. The Order of the Phoenix has once again gathered, trying to scramble up as many members as they can. At the urging of Lily, Snape realizes his mistake of becoming a death eater. His only reason had been to protect Lily and simple peer pressure. So, Snape has now become a double agent, working for Voldemort and the OOTP. So far, things are going well. Snape has been able to provide a sufficient amount of info to the Order about Death Eater activities. His secret has been safe, only known between himself, Lily, and a few Order members.
Even though it appears Lord Voldemort might be taking over the world, Hogwarts has remained untouched. Through much effort, the staff at Hogwarts have been keeping much from the students in order to protect them. Of course, the usual house rivalry and teenage drama can not be avoided. One of the major drama points of the year is the relationship between a Snape and a Potter. It's a brand new year at Hogwarts, and oh-so much could happen.
