PERSONALITY:
Harper Rycoft. How do you describe her? She is probably one of the most care free girls out there. She grew up in Beverly Hills, but never really fit into the Beverly Hills status. She hated all the cliquey girls that only cared about shopping and their hair. Sure she loved to shop, but there were other things that were more important in life. For instance, photography. That is the only thing in life that Harper really has a passion for. She could go out and take pictures all day every day. Their is something about capturing a moment and being able to relive it whenever you want that intrigues Harper. * Harper likes to go to the beat of her own drum. She never listens to what other people tell her to do. She hates people that are 'followers'. You only live once so you should do what you want with it and not try to impress everyone else. Thats why she barley had any girl friends at school. Girls looked down on her when they would be laying out tanning at the beach and she would be out with the guys surfing. The thing is, Harper didn't care about the fact that girls hated her. She didn't care what one person thought about her. * Harper loves to flirt. She knows she is a pretty girl and she can get along with guys great. Flirting is what she does best. She loves getting attention from guys. She is outgoing and not afraid to speak her mind. If she thinks you are good looking she will flat out tell you even if you just met her. She has no problem teasing guys. She actually loves it. She makes them think she is interested in them and then leaves them with nothing. To her that is more fun than actually hooking up. * She is genuinely a sweet girl. She may be a bit ruff around the edges, but deep down she is a sweet and caring person. Once you get to know her and prove to her that you are a good person, she will respect you and open up. It may take time for her to open up to you, but she will do it eventually. Once she does open up to you its hard for you not to like her.

HISTORY:
Harper was the middle child in the Rycoft household. She would be lying if she said her life was not easy, because it was. Her parents were well off, she went to a great school getting a good education, had parents that loved her unconditionally. How could anyone not want that life? Well, Harper didn't want that life. She didn't want to live in Beverly Hills with all the stuck up girls that only made time for shopping, tanning and lounging by the pool. She wanted to live her own life and do her own thing.
Growing up, Harper was close to her older brother Rory. She never got close to her sister Keegan because Keegan was one of those girls that Harper despised. Harper followed Rory around like a lost puppy. Honestly, it never bothered Rory. He loved being a role model for his younger sister. That is until they both were in high school. He was a junior and she was a freshman. He was really into partying and drinking and he didn't want his little sister doing that stuff. But she eventually got into it just as bad, if not worse than Rory was. Half way through freshman year Harper got her first boyfriend, Justin. He happened to be Rory's best friend. At first Rory was a little apprehensive of the situation. Justin loved to party, loved to drink and loved to smoke pot. But of course Harper wouldn't listen to Rory. She did what she wanted when she wanted and she wanted to date Justin.
Justin and Harper dated all through high school. When he graduated he went to a local community college to be close to Harper until she graduated. Everything was going fine. He was still into the parties and she had no problem with that because she loved to party as well. When she graduated high school she went to school for photography and Justin followed. Justin didn't get a job and didn't even finish going to school at the community college. Her parents and Rory tried to tell her to stop seeing him, but they had been dating for four years and she believed that he was the ONE.
One night, Harper stayed at the apartment she shared with Justin to study. He came home at four in the morning drunk and high. Harper had just found out some terrible news. She was pregnant. At first when she found this information out she was upset, but she knew Justin loved her and they would be okay. She went to tell him the news when he came home and Justin was anything but happy. He was so upset that he slapped Harper across the face and pushed her into a wall. Thats when it all started, the abuse. The following week he came home drunk again and pushed her down the stairs, ultimately killing their child.
Harper knew she should get out of the relationship, but she couldn't. She loved him. The abuse continued and only got worse and worse. It got so bad that Harper couldn't even leave the house because of the bruises. One night when Harper was nineteen, she and Justin were on their way to a party when their car was hit by a drunk driver. Justin was killed instantly while Harper made it out with only a broken arm. Instead of feeling upset about his death she felt relieved. Finally the pain was over. Harper moved to Hawaii after the accident. She couldn't live in that town with all the ghosts anymore. She is still afraid of men and relationships to this day.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
"Riles, hunny? This is your mother calling. Now I don't know if their is something wrong with your phone, but every time I call I get your voicemail. Anyways, your sister is coming home this weekend for dinner, it would be nice for you to join. Okay love you call me back." Riley rolled her eyes at the message her mother left and hit delete only to hear three more messages of the exact same thing. Finally the last message on her phone. She had her finger on the 7 button ready to just hit delete, expecting it to be from her mother yet again. But this time it was a male voice. Her brother's voice to be exact. "Riley, it's Jeff, ya know your brother? Mom asked me to call. She is worried about you. I told her to stop worrying because your fine. Do you hear me? YOU ARE FINE! Stop wallowing in self pity. Call mom and go to dinner with the family!" Riley almost would have rather heard another message from her mother than to hear her brother scold her for something that was completely out of her control. It's not like she wanted to be the way she was, always grumpy during the day and drunk at night, trying to forget about her life. As if her life was even really that bad.
Riley sat on the grass of the front yard at school just people watching. Everyone seemed so happy. Well, most people did. Their were the occasional people that complained about going to school. Like it was that bad to be getting an education. And then the couples that would walk by arguing because he didn't call her at 10:05 like she had wanted him to he called at 10:07. She wanted to yell at those people. They should be happy they at least have each other. Oh no, here we go. She knew people watching was a bad idea. People watching led to her seeing couples which led to her only hating her life even more. Maybe Jeff was right, maybe she should stop 'wallowing', but her boyfriend died! He DIED! Sure, it was almost a year ago, but she dated him for three years and he was the ONE. How could her family expect her to move on with her life so quickly? She couldn't and she wouldn't. Riley sighed as she closed her eyes, tilted her head back and let the warm sun hit her face.
"There you are Riley. Ive been calling you. Why haven't you answered?" There it was. That voice. The voice she longed to hear every single day. Every day she sat in the same spot. The same spot she saw him on his last day for the last time and every day their conversation repeats in her head. Riley smiled to herself as she felt the hand rub against her back and the lips of him touch hers. The lips that were no longer there. There was no way in hell this was good for her. Feeling a person that really isn't there? Maybe she was insane? Maybe she should go see a shrink like her mother suggested. "Your fine Riley. You are not insane. You do not need to go see a shrink." And there it was, his voice again. She was listening to an imaginary voice. A voice telling her that she was not insane. She needed to stop this. Listening to the voice of her DEAD boyfriend. She opened her eyes and looked around. Everything was the same as it was since she had closed her eyes.
Riley stood up and headed into the school, but stopped dead in her tracks when she saw her. Amber. Her best friend, or ex best friend. Riley had locked herself up and closed her self off from the whole world when Ian died. And during that time she had lost all her friends, including Amber. But she wanted to get back to her normal life. And the frist step was getting her friends back. Riley took a deep breath as she walked towards Amber. She tapped her on the back and watched as Amber turned around and stared Riley down. "Hey." Thats all she could say? 'hey'? Dear lord Riley, come on! Think of something to say! "Umm, I know we haven't talked in a while. Well actually like six months, but I was wondering if maybe we could talk? Please?" Riley took a deep breath as she waited for Amber to reply.
