NAME: Jamie Alan Richardson AGE: 24 (Born August 10th, 1985; will be turning 25 on August 10th, 2010) HEIGHT: 5'10" WEIGHT: 165 lbs. EYE COLOR: Blue HAIR COLOR: Light brown ETHNICITY: Caucasian
LIKES: All kinds of music, film and art; photography, creating his own music and playing his own instruments, family, friends, Hawaii, sunshine, the beach, kids, pepperoni pizza, cookies-and-cream ice cream, helping other people, making others laugh, hugs, kisses, going all out when taking a girl on a date or giving her presents.
DISLIKES: Bullying, seeing other people cry, jet lag, people who aren't open-minded, losing things, arrogance, pressure, having trouble sleeping, being sick, too many commercials on television, marshmallows (shocker!), seafood (even though he does live in Hawaii).
SECRETS: Jamie kept a lot of the drama with his previous girlfriend hidden from his family and friends. They were together for a long time and were close to getting engaged and being married, but she'd been cheating on him for quite some time. Her affair ultimately ended the relationship, but Jamie told his family and friends they broke up because they weren't getting along. He didn't want people to pick sides or feel sorry for either of them or start pointing fingers.
OCCUPATION: Musician (Native!) SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Straight PLAY BY: Jon McLaughlin
PERSONALITY:
Jamie is basically your average, all around nice guy. He's not completely invisible, but he doesn't totally stand out in the crowd, either. He can be a bit boring sometimes (which Jamie himself will admit), and he's on the quiet side for the most part, but he means well and he tries his best. He's well-mannered and polite, especially when it comes to his "elders" and women. He has a lot of respect for both, and he'll show it (i.e. saying "sir" or "ma'am", holding a door open to let a lady go in or out first, paying for dinner while on a date).
However, he can be a bit shy, a bit gullible and... well, a big dork. That pretty much sums him up in just a few words. He didn't have a lot of self-confidence in high school, and he still doesn't have much, except when it comes to his music. He knows he's not the best musician in the world, and he doesn't think he is (he's not full of himself), but he feels like he can make really nice songs that at least a few people somewhere will like for one reason or another. That's all that matters to him when it comes to his music: his passion for creating his own music, and sharing it with the people who like it.
He's a big family man, and he always tries to keep in touch with his parents and extended family. The breakup with his previous girlfriend was about two years ago, and he hasn't really had anything serious since then, but he hopes to find the right girl and get married and have a family of his own someday. He's very romantic when it comes to girls, just because he likes showing them how important they are to him, and that they're definitely cared about. He's always there if someone needs him, and he does his best to just try to help out. He's not the smartest guy on the planet, or the brightest crayon in the box, but he means well.
PLACE OF BIRTH: Honolulu, Hawaii DATE OF BIRTH: August 10th, 1985 FINANCIAL STATUS: Slightly wealthy. FATHER: Alan Richardson, music teacher. MOTHER: Kari Richardson, massage therapist. SIBLINGS: N/A
HISTORY:
Alan and Kari Richardson were married in Hawaii, thus beginning a new chapter in their lives. They did what the rest of their family thought was impossible: they loved Hawaii so much that they decided to have their honeymoon, move into a brand new home and live out the rest of their lives all in Hawaii. Both were originally from California, and had things settled there, but the spark between them only grew stronger in the lands of Hawaii; they were happy there, so they decided to bite the bullet and strive for a life together there. They managed to do it, even though everyone else in their respective families thought they were crazy. About two years into their marriage, Kari found herself pregnant with their first child: a son, born in the summer month of August, eventually named Jamie Alan Richardson.
Jamie grew up into a lovable little boy, soon showing the same passion for music that his father had. It was that same passion that secured Jamie's father a job as a music teacher, and he taught his son right along with the rest of the kids at school. Of course, he spent time at home helping Jamie out, but Jamie had quite a knack for picking up notes and melodies and instruments, and he loved doing it. There was hardly ever a time growing up where he wasn't involved in band, and he was always known as "the band kid". He was always lugging around a big, black carrying case that contained some sort of musical instrument that would never fit in his locker, and if you asked most of the kids that went to school with him, they'd probably tell you that he was hardly ever seen without instruments.
High school was an interesting time in Jamie's life, because it was then that he discovered girls, and he discovered that a lot of girls like musicians. Even though he did get crushes here and there throughout his four years of high school, they usually only resulted in a few dates before ending completely. He didn't have a lot of self-confidence unless he was playing his music, so most girls were turned off, which left him single the majority of the time. It was okay, though, because during those years, Jamie never felt right trying to get in a relationship. He liked girls, and had the crushes and attractions towards them, but anything more than that just didn't feel right at the time.
Once he graduated, Jamie didn't head in the direction of university. He tried community college for about a year-and-a-half, splitting his time between classes and his music and part-time jobs at cafes and diners cleaning up dishes. It took that year-and-a-half in community college for him to realize he just didn't have his head nor his heart in it, and he dropped out. Sticking with a job as a dishwasher at a local diner, Jamie had his own supply of money, which he used to pay rent to his parents -- and buy musical instruments of his own. His father had plenty, but Jamie wasn't going to steal his dad's instruments. That was something he just never thought of doing; it was almost like a sin to him. It was pretty much a sin to try to steal anyone's own musical instruments.
The next couple years saw Jamie getting better and better with his music, leaving his dishwashing job and securing one at a local music store, and enduring a very long relationship with a girl who ended up being unfaithful. That in itself caused their breakup, which occurred right around the time a public performance of his own music caught the eye of another musician and producer. The rest was history. Jamie was signed to a record label, and once he spent some time in the studio with a few other musicians, a band was created to play Jamie's music. He's released an EP and a few other songs since then, and has done some touring around Hawaii and the States, but nothing else yet. He did finally move out of his parents' house and into his own apartment, and he quit his job at the music store so he could work with the record label. He still visits the store when he can, and he'll still try to help them out if they need it.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
Even though Cody Mae Adams had been working the merch tent for the band Through the Looking-Glass for hours, she still enjoyed it just as much as when she first started. It was fun, kinda crazy, and definitely very cool. Sitting on a folding chair behind the merch table, Cody had her sneaker-clad feet propped up onto another folding chair, and she could hear the distant music from the current live show. She bobbed her head a bit here and there and stuck in an air guitar if the urge kicked in, laughing at herself with another merch kid sitting nearby. Usually, during the shows, most of the merch tents were on the quiet side; once the show let out, then the crowds of fans made their way out of the venue and through all the food and drink stands and the merch tents. Most people bought their merchandise on the way out, and whoever happened to stop by the Through the Looking-Glass merch tent got asked how the show was by the one and only Cody Mae. She'd always listen with wide, anticipating eyes, just because she had been a loyal concert-goer for years, and she knew the attraction of a live show and what kind of effect it can have.
Always with her ever loyal Blackberry phone, Cody had it secured in a clear, plastic holder on a lanyard around her neck, along with her merch tent/official pass. She very rarely brought her big purse with her to the tents and shows, because it would be too much stress on her to try to keep an eye on it, knowing how many tons and tons of people showed up and passed through merch tents. Her phone was her lifeline, and if that was ever taken from her, it'd pretty much be hell on earth until she got some sort of replacement. It stayed quiet for the moment, and Cody put her arms down after her latest air guitar, looking out at the venue area surrounding the merch tent. There was a lemonade stand; that looked and sounded really, really good all of a sudden. Bringing her feet down off their prop, Cody got up and skimmied past one of the merch tables, heading over to the nearby lemonade stand. She pulled some of her own cash out of the back pocket of her slightly frayed and ripped denim shorts, buying two big lemonades in clear, plastic cups with lids, stamping her feet on the asphalt a little bit once she got them in her hands.
"Thank you," Cody said, strategically holding them against her chest as she grabbed a handful of straws even though she didn't need more than two. Carrying all that back to the merch tent, she set the lemonades on an open spot on the table, shouting across the tent to the rest of the merch kids. "I just bought lemonade, if you want one, come get it! Free for today only." Small hands with dark nailpolish ripped open a straw and stuck it down into the plastic cup, then picked it up. The five-foot-three brunette known as Cody Mae was currently in lemonade heaven as she sipped it down, closing her eyes and thoroughly enjoying it, as it was clearly written across her smiling face. It was tart and sweet and sudden, and it made that 'ahhh' sound escape past her lips once she was done taking that first long sip, finishing it all off with a heavy, content sigh. She looked at the nearby merch kid from earlier and laughed at herself again, shaking her head slowly. "This is really good, sorry. Do you want this other one? You can have it, you don't need to pay me back." She said, using her free hand to pick up another wrapped straw, attempting to unwrap it with one hand. Cody Mae plus straws and straw wrappers could not be anything good.
