PERSONALITY:
Atticus is a sort of strange guy. He seems like your typical bad boy, asshole type but there is much more to him than just that. Those two traits are major traits of his but there is also a lot more than just that. He is more than a rebel without a cause. He has more to him than just those traits. Those traits are just what people see of him. Those are the things they've concluded about him and therefore assumed to be his main personality. These are the things that allow him to excuse his horrible behavior and when people talk about him they just say it was cause he is such a bad boy. The way people see him is a bad boy who just likes to screw up things to anger his family. They view Atticus as the smart boy who made all the wrong decisions, and they did get that down exactly right. He could have been the sweet, romantic guy but Atticus didn't want to waste his time with that, he wanted to have fun and not be bothered with anything. He made one wrong decision in his high school years and decided to go down that path instead of trying to be good, it was much easier. Everything that one does is basically excusable when you are the bad guy. Whenever he would run out of town, people would just forget about him because he always did this. He was a runner. Whenever trouble came, he would get out of there as fast as possible before he had to really face it. Problem is that he is running out of places to run to.
It is easier for him to have this bad boy image. Underneath this whole image he puts up, there is a very sweet, romantic guy. He rarely shows anybody that side of him, not even his family. He covers it up because he doesn't want people to think of him as a wuss. It is much harder to do business when people think you are some pussy of a guy who can't even handle his own emotions. Atticus covers up his romantic side and only shows it to those who really mean something to him. There haven't been many of those people around lately though so his bad boy personality has sort of taken over. He really believes in a one true love and being with one girl for the rest of his life, but what kind of bad boy believes in that? Also he really hasn't had a one love and doesn't know what it feels like to to entertain himself he just gets with all these girls. He is viewed as a womanizer and most would be very surprised to find out that he actually isn't like that at all. He doesn't want to feel like a loser and he doesn't want to be called one either so he just sleeps around most of the time. He is clever and loves to have fun. He loves adventure and running away doesn't bother him because it is another journey and risk for him to take. He has a way of charming people and becoming instantly popular wherever he steps foot. He is argumentative and somewhat frustrating because he keeps things to himself and refuses to open up about them. He always has an opinion and point and likes to fight about it until he gets proven right. His personality attracts people to him and his mysterious lifestyle intrigues them even more. He has been a one man show for a while now though and he is used to that. He is used to being a bad guy who does all the wrong things but with good intentions. This other side of him may rise up again though.
PLACE OF BIRTH: manhattan, new york DATE OF BIRTH: January 5, 1987 FINANCIAL STATUS: wealthy FATHER: Wayne Brendan Roberts - 50 MOTHER: Camille Oriel Roberts - 47 SIBLINGS: none
HISTORY:
Wayne was one of the Roberts. A wealthy, New York family that was big and filled with many relatives. He lived a simple life because he simply got everything he ever wanted. He could do whatever he wanted and he didn't have a care in a world. He was a hippie at heart but his family's lifestyle forced him to wear a suit and a tie everyday and present himself like a gentleman. He obliged because they had given him everything so now he had to dedicate the rest of his life to them. Not that he really minded, he could say he was sick and go off to England or Russia or some fancy place like that for a few days. He could come to work drunk out of his mind and there was no firing him. Besides, Wayne was good at what he did. He was a businessman and if anything he could seal a deal with his eyes closed. One of his 'sick days' he took a trip to Paris. He loved the romance of the city and the way everyone just drank wine so he joined in with everyone else. He was 25 at the time.
Camille was French and there was no denying that. She looked, acted and talked like a French girl. She followed all the trends her whole life and wanted to pursue dance, like most of her friends. She was dedicated to her studies and her work. She was a ballerina at heart but no matter how much she tried, she just wasn't able to be as good as the other dancers. She had talent, there was no denying that, but she didn't have too much potential in the eyes of the major ballet companies. They didn't see her as a quality dancer and one who could go far with their teaching. They kept on denying her and she persisted on being a dancer so she just kept on trying. She followed what everyone else did and never really did anything she wanted to. She was a people pleaser and she was really alright with that. Making people happy meant that they would be with her longer. Then she was at a bar, with a group of girlfriends, they were all laughing and drinking, having a good time. An American boy caught her eye and for the first time in her life she went against everyone's advice and what they were doing, and went up to talk to him. They spent the rest of the night and his vacation in France together. Sleeping with each other and going on romantic walks and dinners. He treated her well and she liked that. They exchanged numbers and addresses so they could keep in contact.
They were pen pals for another few months, talked on the phone regularly because they were an escape for each other. They held each other certain things that they couldn't get anywhere else. Wayne took another one of his sick days and went to France just to propose to Camille. She accepted and the newly engaged couple had to decide what to do next. Camille decided for herself that it was pointless following her friends like she had her whole life, now she was going to follow Wayne. So they went back to New York and she adjusted to life there. She gained learned the ways of the social elite and how to dress herself like one of them. She worked on her English and she provided Wayne with everything he wanted or needed. They were wed in an extravagant wedding at the Gotham Hall with around 600 guests. It was one of the biggest events of the year and they began their life together in absolute bliss. Camille became pregnant with their first and only child. She loved being a housewife and doting on her husband while he loved the attention he got. Their marriage was like a match made in heaven or so it seemed.
Their baby boy was born on January 5 and they couldn't be anymore happier. They named him Atticus after one of Wayne's late relatives and Nathaniel because it was one of Camille's favorite names. So Atticus Nathaniel Roberts was brought into the world. He was brought up differently than many of the Upper East Side kids. He was taught French before English, until Wayne stopped that. His mother spent every single day with him and he didn't have a nanny, until his father suggested that they get one. His mother sang to him at night and loved him unconditionally and so did his dad. Wayne was a good father but just a very absent one. He had his schedule and he didn't like straying away from it. He worked everyday until five o' clock and then he would come home and have a nice dinner. If it was a Tuesday he'd go out with his family, if it was Wednesday he'd go out with his friends and if it was Thursday he would go out with his wife. Atticus was brought up in a loving environment so it was strange to think that he turned out the way he did, but not all that unbelievable.
His elementary and middle school years are really all like one another. Nothing very significant happened besides the usual boy trouble and fights he got into. The whoopie cushion pranks and the kissing of girls on the playground. He did all the normal stuff for boys to do. He was friends with many of their family friends and he grew up like the other Roberts. He was expected to be a businessman or a politician or something of that sort like the rest of his family was. He was perfectly alright with that also. Atticus was content in his life. From his mother he got his sweet, romantic side. The idea that there was love out there came from her. His bad boy image came from his dad. Wayne didn't give a care in the world and he smoked, drank and did whatever he could to still keep a bit of rebellion that was left in him from his teenage years. He got the idea of presenting yourself from both of them because they were different people in front of everyone else. His mom kept to herself and pretended she didn't understand what was going on. His dad was polite, proper and calm so that he could hide his true self and ambitions.
Once he hit high school, things started to go south for Atticus. He was sick of being a proper Roberts and he wanted to do something unlike what his family wanted. So he began to smoke weed and do drugs every now and then. He became a hardcore partier but he still kept his close friends. He had a tight-knit group of kids who would always party and hang out together. He had one bad incident though. He got a bit too wild at a party and his drug obsession and alcoholism was blasted everywhere, he was sent away to rehab for the summer and when he came back people excused him and made way for him because of what he had done. He kinda liked the way people reacted toward him so instead of getting better, like he had intended to, he just got worse and worse. He would pick fights and was very argumentative. He would drink and sleep around and gamble a bit more. He had gotten pretty good with gambling or so he thought. He would still have his sweet, romantic personality for his family though and friends. His friends stuck by since they were all going through the same thing. That rebellious stage.
Atticus got accepted into NYU and he spent his college years there. Partying and going to classes. He made new friends but still kept the old. Nothing very exciting happened in college since it was partying all day. He had no worries in the world and he is majoring in business. Planning to take over what his dad already created. New York was becoming too stifling though. With all the pressure and ridiculous people so him and his best friend, Bee, decided to skip town and spend the summer in Hawaii. They are living together and who knows what will happen with those two?
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
Atticus hadn't taken the fight he had with Bee too well lately. It wasn't exactly the part where they fought, it was the things she said. He knew that people said things they didn't exactly mean when they were angry but there was something in her that made him feel like she meant them. She meant them more than anything and it killed him to think that. The way she had spoken about him, she sounded like she was disgusted with him and she had every right to be. What he had been doing was gross and dirty but Atticus couldn't help it. If he could, he wouldn't do it. He had fallen into the trap of addiction and frankly he didn't want help. So avoiding her was the only option he had left. He didn't want to hear it from her again. He knew he needed help but he wasn't looking for it and he didn't really want her pitying him. He didn't want the fact that she got him out of his debt on his mind, at all. He had other friends to be with though, many other friends.
Tinsley was one of them. He didn't know what it was about the two of them but things just clicked for them. They understood one another and everything flowed. There was really no fussing or fighting. No complicated histories or relationships. They just hung out and had a good time. They hadn't seen each other in a while though and that was really depressing him. Atticus hated how he went so long without communicating with any of his family or friends. He was going to make an effort to be with everyone now though. He was planning on reconnecting because he couldn't deal with this constant being away and apart from people. He hated having to catch up because he always felt like he missed out on so much, which he often did. He felt like all he was doing was catching up lately. The deaths in his cousin's family, the kid he had, the milestones he missed and everything else.
Now he was catching up with Tinsley and he was awfully excited for it. He had on a pair of jeans and a waffle shirt. Usually he has been all dressed up lately because he has been doing business deals and all the clothes he brought here were for work, but he dug through his suitcases and found the few casual items he had left. Now he was just waiting for her. He didn't know what to have out in his home. He tried cleaning his place up a bit but it was a dump and there was no way he was going to get it clean. He lived in a somewhat good part of town but he got the apartment for more than half of its original price since he knew the guy that owned the buildings. They weren't the nicest but it was better than living on the streets or paying for something he couldn't afford. He heard a knock and dropped whatever he had been doing. He walked rather quickly to the door and opened it. He saw her there in front of him and a smile spread across his face. He was very glad to see her here. "Tinsley!" he began, "please, come in and see my dump of a place," he told her as he swung the door open.
