PERSONALITY:

penny's the kind of girl who usually just lets things roll of her back. she's pretty laid back because she's baked half the time, and just doesn't have the energy to start anything. she's not really friendly, she's closed off, and can be a bit snappy when people try to befriend her. she tends to take things the wrong way a lot, and when she does have the energy to say something about it, watch out, she may be stoned, but her tongue is still sharp, and penny will bitch anyone out if they offend her or those she loves. she's loyal to her friends, and gets really attached to her close friends, who she secretly refers to as her family because her family's so broken and fucked up right now.

when it comes to love, well penny doesn't want to be in love. being in love just complicates and confuses everything so, she prefers to just keep commitment completely out of relationships and just have physical relationship - because really she's to high most of the time to get emotional. she has no problem sleeping with people, and is pretty easy, even she admits it. she doesn't really respect herself, she'll never say it out loud, but it's obvious with how she abuses substances. she depends on weed and pills to get through most of her days, and cough syrup is always a must when she can't sleep. she lacks boundaries, and never really had a role model figure when growing up so she's become a completely, irresponsible, young woman.

HISTORY:

penelope rhodes was born into wealth. her father, bruce rhodes was a big time stock investor, and scarlet was an heiress. the two decided to settle down in hawaii once scarelt got pregnant at thirty one. the two had previously lived in manhattan but were sick of the city: all the pollution, people, nose, smell, they needed to get away, and they wanted the perfect place to raise their unborn child. seven months after the move, scarlet started to go into labor, and unexpectedly gave birth to penny in her living room. penny had to go to hospital immediately since she was born so early. scarlet didn't care that her baby was being taken away, infact she was relieved she wouldn't have to put up with the crying that night. bruce, well bruce was too absorbed in his work to even notice the baby was being born until he heard screaming, and just shrugged off the fact it would be weeks before they could take their baby home.

like typical rich, career aborsbed parents, penny never really got to spend any quality time with her parents. they were always rushing out to work, parties, or groceries or whatever errands that had to be done, leaving penny alone with the hawaiian nanny, who penny developed a stronger sense of family with than her own parents. her parents only seemed to realize how much penny had grown when she had to go buy a uniform for the boarding school her parents were going to send her for high school.

penny was a good kid until she reached boarding school. she hated it there, absolutely hated it there. the atmosphere she was in was terrible, and the people were horrible and she just could not believe her parents shipped her off to rhode island for this school. she started hanging out with the wrong crowd, and after being rushed to the hospital her freshman year for alcohol poisoning, you would think that penny had learned her lesson right? well she didn't. penny went on from drinking to pot, and well once the pot started her whole life style changed. maybe it was because it mellowed her out, calmed her down, and opened her eyes to her surroundings, but whatever it did, penny just found herself fighting for what she believed in and realizing a lot of the stuff she had done before was wrong - like eating meat. basically she turned into this hippie girl, who decided she didn't need to go to college.

well bruce and scarlet were not to happy with their daughter, and when penny had been taken to the hospital again for alcohol poisoning, her parents decided they didn't want her free loading off them. if penny was going to just stay and party in hawaii instead of going to school, she was going to have to do it on her own.
